This is my first venture into blogging so bear with me through the teething blogs and potential waffle.
Why am I blogging? Well - this blog has been inspired by a few sites which try to find fun and beauty in everyday experiences and make their own little corner of the world better. These are 3 Beautiful Things http://threebeautifulthings.blogspot.com/, Rock and Roll Bride http://www.rocknrollbride.com/, Recycled Bride http://www.recycledbride.com/ and the brillinat 5 OS pleasures in your day thread on Money Saving Expert http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=2039611
What's the point? I work for a big company in a city where there is a huge amount of status driven over - consumption. As a counter balance to the miles I fly from work I want to be as gentle on the environment as I can but I'm far form perect and wanted to have a record of the challenges and changes I've made to my life. Similarly I work for a big company, it prides itself in valuing people but sometimes it is easy to lose that message in the daily grind and this blog is also hoping to share someone the totally random fun things that happen in an average day which make it worthwhile getting up. Everyone knows someone who lights up your day just with a passing word, I don't think I could every have that efect on anyone but maybe my rambling thoughts will make someone smile and think that their day isn't so bad after all.
What's with the title? Ahh......in an attempt initially to fit into a very small flat and then to fit contintue with the gentle on the environment theme I try to have things in my home which I either love or which serve a purpose. The wonderful man in my life who will now be referred to as WM :) asked which category he fell into.................it's got to be both :)
Three beautiful things............
Here are the three things that have made me smile so far today........
1 - I have a small stone heart with a hole in the top which I have carried in my purse for years, it cheers me up when I pull it out with the change. I must have left it sitting on my desk at work and came in this morning to find that someone had taken the time to thread an elastic band through the hole, attach it to a paper-clip and hang it up next to my PC.............I have no idea who did it but the fact that someone took the time to do something quite random made me smile.
2 - The WM of course.........nothing more needs to be said
3 - my colleague who made a cup of fresh coffee appear on my desk as if by magic, proper freshly ground as well.
Enjoy the day.
Hello! Sounds like you had a good day! I love the joy in little things like those that happened to you today. Beautiful. Sarah x
